// now spoken for on their very woodland wedding day ✨????
Bride & DIY extraordinaire, Shelby, absolutely blew me away with her stunning wedding. Every details was so gorgeously romantic in taste & chosen perfectly [all while she remained completely calm the entire day…] She was surrounded by the most amazing girls who’s heart were all so full with excitement & joy for their friend. It says a lot about a person when they are that well loved by not just one, but a crowd of wonderful people.
I am so happy to be sharing these shots because you can see the glowing love in every frame. I have no doubt that she & Connor will be blissfuly happy their whole lives. When two people set out together on a journey, mountains are made into molehills. [& I am absolutely in love with her sweet ring! It looks like she is wearing a band of flowers & leaves.]
So thankful to be a part of their beautiful day! xoxox
I just had the pleasure of photographing Kate & Chadd’s wedding in Sedona at Los Abrigados! It was truly a delight. While I’m busy editing away all the crazy amounts of jobs I’ve had this Fall I wanted to their engagement photos that they also took in Sedona at Los Abrigados.
These photos were taken at the artist’s village Tlaquepaque in Sedona as well as on the Los Abrigados property [ N 34° 51′ 42.2742″ + W 111° 45′ 48.5527″ ] Kate’s beautiful hair & make-up was done by The Sedona Beauty Team.
Flagstaff is an absolutely perfect spot in Arizona for a wedding & engagement photography.
All the trees!!
If you live in Phoenix & are dreaming of some woodland engagement photos know that your wishes are only 2-3 hours away. Sedona has really beautiful forest areas with red rock dirt, the canyon is a stunning spot with lots of water and lush foliage & then all the way up to Flagstaff are beautiful woods that rival the Northwest. Not just all desert!
These are some engagement photos taken in the forest & then with the gorgeous mountains in the background. It was raining [still cannot believe how much it rains here] towards the end which always makes for some creative shots.
These photos were all taken in natural light at Peak View Point [N 35.246343+ W111.685671] and processes in Lightroom using VSCO Fuji 400H++
Lover’s Knoll in Sedona is one of the very best & most beautiful spots at sunset. Sedona weddings and little elopements are always happening here, except for today. Today, this charming man proposed to his girl complete with a rose petal heart, her entire family & a stunning ring!
››› These kinds of moments only happen once in your life & it’s pretty rad to have photos
So thankful he brought me here to witness this joy. Cheers to a lifetime of happiness & good fortune xoxo
These photos were taken at Lover’s Knoll in Sedona, Arizona. There is no sign or anything “official” called it that so you won’t be able to find it on a map. It’s a term locals use but I am including the coordinates for you [ N 34° 50′ 37.9956″ + W 111° 49′ 34.6951″] The photos were taken in the 10 minutes of sun we got that afternoon after on and off rain storms, hallelujah!
Reilly & I were wandering around Scottsdale getting our favorite coffee [Cartel] & favorite eats [Chop Shop] & we found a rad old book store full of tons of really old editions with the coolest covers you’ve ever seen. And then.. I found it…
Never did I think I would find a book that was ›so me‹ I would have thought that I wrote it.
As it turns out, Cactus & Pine is just that. Written by the Arizona adventurer & explorer Sharlot M. Hall. [i.e. my new personal hero] Born in 1870 she was first lady to hold office in the Arizona Territory government & her personal collection of photographs and artifacts served as the starting collection for a history museum which bears her name. Can’t wait to go to Prescott & see all the she was up to!
Looks like we have a lot in common, I think we would have been great friends.
This book was found in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona & photographed in my front yard in Sedona, Arizona [ N 33° 29′ 49.8368″ +W 111° 55′ 36.2719″
If you are getting married in Sedona, Los Abrigados is one of the most lush & woodsy venues! I adored being a wedding photographer here, highly recommended.
Getting married is special. Really special.
You are now embarking into the world with a friend. Someone who will be by your side or who will be the first & most interested to hear the story of your time apart. They will listen with love & love to listen.
These two are great. Really great. [You can read all about their particular kind of greatness ›here‹ in their engagement shoot post.]
Not much more to say other than I sincerely loved this day & I am touched to have been able to be a part of it. Enjoy it all xoxoxo
Photos were taken with a Canon 5D mIII & 5D + 50mm 1.2 + 70-200mm 2.8 + 45 mm tilt-shift and edited with VSCO Fuji 400H++ at Los Abrigados in Sedona [N 34° 51′ 45.9505″ + W 111° 45′ 49.3252″] & yes it was an awesome day.
I hope everyone is doing well on this fine Friday!
It’s been a busy week here. I just got back from Denver, am visiting my family vacationing in Prescott, & Reilly, Fae & I are flying out to Portland on Saturday! It has been a whirlwind of traveling and I am doing so much more in the upcoming months.
›Traveling is so important to our family‹ We are real adventure-seekers at heart.
I also wanted to take this moment of down time to share a super extra-special gift my bride & now friend Kali sent me! [Check out her swoon-worthy Oregon coast elopement here]
She & her man actually secretly eloped! As in, they told no one & then they sent out this extra sweet announcement tied up with a PCNW fern. So honored to have received one myself.
& thank you to all my clients who share what they do with their photos. I absolutely love seeing what they become in your life. The little artifacts from your wedding are precious memories you will treasure your whole life.
These photos were shot in the woods in Prescott, Arizona [N 34° 32′ 22.7457″ +W 112° 28′ 3.8196″] with a Canon 5D + Canon f/1.8 50mm & edited with VSCO Fuji400H
If you are planning a fall engagement, this post is not to be missed! The West Fork Trail in Sedona is an excellent spot for lush & woodsy engagement or wedding photos if you want them to be super naturey with just a touch of deep, red rock. [Here are some other examples if you are curious]
I am sitting in my office with our cooler on full blast, melting into my chair, so I decided to post some fall photos from the archive to pretend I am actually in a stormy & grey-skied reality [I’ll let you know how that goes…]
Anyway, I also wanted to share these photos because when this session happened I was about 8 months preggo & they never made it up on the blog. Sad! This couple is so super sweet and I am very thankful I got to photograph Johnny & Susie because they are basically perfect! Attitude, style, grace, etc., they have it all. A big thank you for having me! Love this life.
These photos were taken at the West Fork Trail in Oak Creek Canyon just north of Sedona [N 34° 59′ 15.8842″ + W 111° 44′ 47.3726″] with a Canon 5D + Canon 24-70 mm
I am on a roll posting so many wonderful shoots that have just been sitting in my archive & this one is extra adorable!
When we moved to Sedona to have our sweet baby Fae, we never imagined we would be so lucky as to meet another couple who did the same thing! Not only did they also move across several states to be here, but our little girls were due only about 3 weeks apart [and ended up being born only 3 short days apart!]
Chris & Nicole are two of most steadfast people we have met. They were such a constant source of great help, kinship & harmony. We are so fortunate to have developed such a bond with them & we can watch our babes grow up at the same time. Making the commitment to keep friendship in your life is a big deal as an adult & an even bigger one when you are a new family, so to have someone in pretty much the exact same shoes is truly a blessing.
This sweet family has since moved to Hawaii and we are hoping to be visiting them this fall. Heck ya!
These photos were taken on a Canon 5D + 50 mm 1.2 + 70-200 2.8 and were edited with VSCO Fuji 400H++ in Lightroom. The locations are West Fork Trail & a dirt road Chavez Crossing Rd [N 34° 49′ 39.3466″ + W 111° 47′ 58.2515″]
